This is for kids ( 5-17 yrs old) who loves outdoors and speaks Mandarin or comfortable in Mandarin-speaking environment. Welcome join us. Older kids will help supervise the younger kids, as we are all a big family exploring in nature.

This year, we will focus on hiking longer distances. If your children can comfortably walk/hike for approximately 2 hrs (with breaks ) and are ready to gradually build endurance, then it could be a good fit. Children do not need to be experienced hikers, but they should be able to stay with the group and manage their own backpack, water, bathroom needs, and basic trail instructions.

(Please note that sign-up may not guarantee your spots. All outings are free. The Mentor will send outing information a month prior to re-confirm each kids' availability on the sign-up sheets. I will consider the age groups, locations, logistics for each outong. Kids from my current tutoring pool have the priority to join. Thanks for understanding.)

• Tentative Dates:  On a weekend of each month, from October 2026 to May 2027.

• Days:  Oct 4, Nov 7, Dec 5, Jan 9, Feb 6, Mar 13, Apr 10, May 8.

• Time: 9:30 AM-1:30 PM

• Location: Drop-off and Pick-up will be at local preserves within 15-25 minutes of Downtown Menlo Park. 

• Priorities: Kids in the Mandarin Tutoring Program and other outing program have priorities.

• Group Size: Maximum 10 kids per group
